Account Deletion Process

1. Step 1: Send Deletion Request

   Click the button below to send us an email requesting account deletion. Please include the email address associated with your Lingolix account.

2. Step 2: Identity Verification

   We will verify your identity to ensure the request is legitimate and protect your account security.

3. Step 3: Data Deletion

   Your account and associated data will be permanently deleted within 7 business days.

4. Step 4: Confirmation

   You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion process is complete.

What Data Will Be Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data will be permanently removed:

• Account Information: Your email address, username, profile data, and preferences
• Learning Progress: All your learning history, SRS scheduling data, and review statistics
• Practice Data: Stroke practice drawings, voice recordings for pronunciation, and journal entries
• Subscription Information: Your subscription status and payment associations (payment details are never stored on our servers)
• User-Generated Content: Any custom notes, bookmarks, or personalized settings

Data Retention Policy

For transparency, some data may be retained temporarily for the following reasons:

• Backup Retention: Your data may remain in encrypted backups for up to 90 days for disaster recovery purposes. After this period, it will be automatically purged from all backups.
• Financial Records: Transaction records required by law (such as invoices) will be retained for 7 years in pseudonymized form, as required by German and EU tax regulations.
• Aggregated Analytics: Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics (with no personal identifiers) may be retained for up to 30 days to improve our service.

Your Rights Under GDPR

Account deletion is part of your Right to Erasure (also known as the "Right to be Forgotten") under Article 17 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In addition to account deletion, you have other rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Right to Rectification: Correct any inaccurate personal data
• Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format (JSON export available in the app)
• Right to Object: Object to certain processing of your data
• Right to Restrict Processing: Request limitation of how we process your data
